>> WELCOME ABOARD
Hi, I'm Marcus and I'm 14. This is my page about seaQuest DSV, which is the best show
on TV and I'm not just saying that. I have watched every single episode since the first one in
September 1993, except one where we were at my aunt's house and her antenna couldn't get NBC.
(My cousin taped it for me. It's on the shelf with the others.) My friend Jonas comes over on
Sunday nights and we watch it in the basement with the lights off, so it feels like being on
the bridge.
>> BIG NEWS!!! (7/22/95)
OK this is HUGE. seaQuest is coming back for season 3 in the fall, which is the good news. But
it's going to be called seaQuest 2032, because the show jumps ahead to the year 2032.
And there's going to be a NEW CAPTAIN, played by Michael Ironside.
I read it in a TV magazine at the grocery store and had to read it twice. Then I came home and
Jonas called and he read the same thing somewhere else. So it's true. I don't know yet what
happens to Captain Bridger. Nobody I know knows.
My thoughts on season 3: COMING SOON
I have a lot of thoughts. I need to get them in order first. Check back!

>> THE BOAT
seaQuest DSV 4600. DSV stands for Deep Submergence Vehicle. Even though it's huge, you
call it a boat, not a ship, because submarines are boats. (Look it up.)
- It belongs to the UEO, the United Earth Oceans Organization. That's kind of like the
United Nations, but for the oceans.
- Captain Bridger designed it. Then they talked him into being the captain.
- It has WSKRs (you say "whiskers"), which are probes the sensor chief sends out to look
around. They're the boat's eyes.

^ = seaQuest
D = Darwin (out for a swim)
* = fish, probably
? = UNKNOWN CONTACT (season 3?)

>> THE CREW (season 2)
My ratings are out of 5 dolphins. (I wanted to use dolphin pictures but I don't have any, so
you get numbers.)
| WHO | JOB | RATING |
Capt. Nathan Bridger (Roy Scheider) | The captain. Knows more about the ocean than anybody. Darwin's best friend. | 5 |
Lucas Wolenczak (Jonathan Brandis) | Computer genius. A teenager! See below. | 5 + 5 bonus |
| Cmdr. Jonathan Ford | Executive officer, second in command. Always has the captain's back. | 4 |
| Lt. Tim O'Neill | Communications. Speaks about a dozen languages. | 4 |
| Chief Miguel Ortiz | Sensor chief. Runs the WSKRs. | 4 |
| Lt. James Brody | Weapons officer. New this season. | 4 |
| Lt. Lonnie Henderson | Drives the boat (the helm). New this season. | 3 |
| Dr. Wendy Smith | The new doctor. She can sense things other people can't, which is creepy but useful. | 3 |
| Tony Piccolo | Has GILLS. He can breathe underwater. Enough said. | 5 |
| Dagwood | The janitor, and a GELF, which means Genetically Engineered Life Form. My second favorite. He's nicer than most of the humans. | 5 |
| Darwin | Dolphin. Crew member. Not a pet. | ∞ |
Gone but not forgotten (season 1): Dr. Westphalen, the doctor and head of
science. Commander Hitchcock, the chief engineer. Chief Crocker. And Lt. Krieg, the supply officer,
who always had some kind of deal going. I miss Krieg's deals.
>> WHY LUCAS IS THE BEST
- He's a teenager and he lives on a submarine. That's the best job anybody my age could ever have.
- He's smarter than the computer, and the computer on seaQuest is really smart.
- When something breaks, who do they call? Lucas.
- He talks back to the officers sometimes and gets away with it. Mostly.
- He's a kid, but they treat him like he's part of the crew, because he is.
My sister's friends think Jonathan Brandis is cute. That is NOT why I like Lucas, OK? I'm
going to be a computer programmer, or a marine biologist. Or both. Lucas would do both.
>> DARWIN
Darwin is a dolphin and he's a member of the crew. He talks through a computer
translator called the vo-corder, so you hear a computer voice saying what he means. Captain
Bridger knew him on his island before the show starts, and that's why Darwin trusts him.
He's the reason I want to be a marine biologist. (See above. Both.)
>> MY TOP 5 EPISODES
No spoilers. I hate spoilers.
- The very first one (the two-hour one, Sept. '93). They talk Captain Bridger into
leaving his island and taking the boat out. Still the best.
- The one where Darwin gets sick (Sept. '93). The captain has to think about letting him
go. I'm not saying I cried. I'm saying I had to go get a glass of water.
- The one where four of them get trapped in a cave (Dec. '94) and there isn't enough air.
Lucas is one of them. I was yelling at the TV.
- The one with the giant prehistoric crocodile (Jan. '95). Do I need to say more? No.
- The last one of season 2 (May '95). There are aliens. That's all I'm saying. If you
missed it, find somebody who taped it.
>> DID YOU KNOW?
- seaQuest is made by Steven Spielberg's company, Amblin.
- Roy Scheider was the police chief in JAWS. In that movie he's scared of the water. Now he
lives under it. Ha!
- For season 2 they moved the filming to Florida.
- There's a Lt. Brody on seaQuest, and Roy Scheider's character in JAWS was named Brody too.
Coincidence? Jonas says yes. I'm not so sure.
