		SEVEN COMMAND DECISIONS
HOME Not an episode guide. There are excellent ones out there and I'm not going to compete with them. These are the seven episodes I'd show someone who wanted to understand why I built this page, each one a moment where Janeway had to choose. Listed in the order they aired. SPOILER WARNING: the last one aired last night.

01	CARETAKER SEASON 1 She gives up the only ride home to protect a people she's known for a day. The whole series grows out of that one choice.
02	RESOLUTIONS SEASON 2 Left behind on a planet with Chakotay and an illness with no cure, she orders the ship to go on without her, then spends every spare hour trying to fix it herself. Quiet and lovely.
03	MACROCOSM SEASON 3 Just the captain, a phaser rifle and a ship full of oversized viruses. Pure action movie, and she carries it alone. My husband's favorite, for reasons he claims are about the plot.
04	SCORPION, PARTS I & II SEASONS 3–4 A deal with the Borg, of all people, against something worse. Chakotay thinks she's wrong and says so. She makes the deal anyway. The best argument the two of them have ever had.
05	YEAR OF HELL, PARTS I & II SEASON 4 The ship comes apart around her piece by piece, and she won't leave it. If you only watch one, watch this one.
06	COUNTERPOINT SEASON 5 Refugees hidden aboard, a charming inspector searching the ship, and a chess match between the two of them. She wins. Of course she wins.
07	EQUINOX, PARTS I & II SEASONS 5–6 Another Starfleet captain lost out here, who made the choices she refused to make. In last night's conclusion she goes after him so hard that she relieves Chakotay of duty. I'm still thinking about it. I'm not sure she was right, and I love that the show let me wonder.
