1999 SCHEDULE & WINNERS
Pine Barrens Virtual Tour
Tour Home | Leaderboard & Money List

We started the tour in December, right after Links LS 1999 came out, and spent the winter working the bugs out with a few practice weeks. The 1999 season proper began on March 7. We rotate through the four courses that come in the box, in the same order every time: the Old Course at St Andrews, Bay Hill, Latrobe and Entrada at Snow Canyon. That way nobody's favorite comes up too often, and everybody has to learn all four.

Dates are the Sunday each round was due. Scores are to par. A * means the winner tied for low score and won on the card (see rule 6 on the home page).

Weeks off: April 11 (Masters week, when every pharmacist in Augusta works double shifts and the commissioner does not have time to play back forty recorded rounds), July 4, and September 5 for Labor Day.

Wins this season: FadeAway 5; Gopher 4; EagleEye 3; Backspin, Caddyshack, PinHigh, Snowman and Spikemark 2 each; BigDog, LagPutt, SweetSpot and ThreeJack 1 each. That's 26 events and 26 wins.

About the courses: The Old Course is the oldest golf course in the world and plays like it, with huge double greens and bunkers you can't see from the tee. Bay Hill is Arnold Palmer's club in Orlando, and the 18th, with the water in front of the green, has ended more of our rounds than any other hole. Latrobe is the club in Pennsylvania where Palmer grew up, a pretty, old-fashioned course where our scores always seem to come in lowest. Entrada is desert golf in southern Utah, red rock and black lava, and if you miss the fairway you may not find the ball.
