THE IMPROV-A-THON
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13 · NOON TO MIDNIGHT · UNION BALLROOM

Once a year we do improv for twelve hours straight to raise money. This is the fourth one. The troupe stays onstage (with bathroom breaks and a pizza delivery at six) and the audience comes and goes all day. Admission is free. The money comes from pledges and from the bucket.

Noon to 3Family hours. Clean games, kid suggestions, and kids can come up and play a round of Freeze Tag with us.
3 to 6The classics. Every game on the games page and some we only play once a year.
6 to 9Guest hour: Dr. Zoller and a few brave professors play a round with us. Last year the dean of students did a party quirk.
9 to midnightLate night. We're tired, you're tired, everything's funnier. At midnight, the Twelfth-Hour Hoedown, sung by whoever is still upright.

How pledges work: pick up a pledge sheet at any show or e-mail us for one. Get friends, family and that one rich uncle to pledge an amount per hour, like a quarter or a dollar an hour, and collect after the 'thon. Or just put money in the bucket when you come by. Half of everything goes to the campus food pantry. The other half goes toward sending the troupe to a college improv festival in the spring, which we have never been able to afford.

Last year: $1,860, 41 different games, three hoarse voices, one standing nap (Richard), and one marriage proposal in the audience at 10:40 p.m., which we did not plan and could not top. She said yes.
