Surname List
The families of Patrick and Flora Mayon, mostly central Pennsylvania
The Guide · My Surname List · Write to Me

Every surname in my file, with where each family lived and the years I have them there. The last column is how many people of that name are in the file, counting only those who have passed on. Living people are not in my Web pages and never will be. Other spellings I've found in the records are in parentheses, because the census taker spelled what he heard.

Counted Sunday, September 19, 1999. 2,300 people in all.

The other 260 names are all on the surname index of my family pages, and they'll be back on the line when the new pages have been checked. If yours isn't above, write and ask anyway. There's a fair chance it's in there.

Writing to me with a query

If you see a name and a place that match your people, please write. A query is like a train order: the more exact it is, the less can go wrong. Tell me:

1. The person's full name, and any other spellings you've seen.
2. When and where they were born, married and died, as near as you know.
3. Their parents, husband or wife, and children, if you know them.
4. Where you got what you have. A census, a Bible, Aunt somebody's memory: all of it is welcome, as long as you say which.
5. What you're hoping to find out.

I'll answer within the week and send what I have, with my sources, so you can check them for yourself. I don't send anything about living people, mine or yours, and I'll ask you not to post what I send without the sources attached. If we turn out to be kin, I'll say so in the first line, and you'll hear Flora cheer from here to wherever you are.

Some of my best finds came from people who wrote "probably not related, but..." So write.
