The National Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue. Mary took this one over the crowd, and the boy on the shoulders on the right is Cody. The big dark thing he's sitting on is me and my backpack. You'd think I'd be in more of these pictures, being the one who carries everything.

This is a high school marching band in white uniforms with the tall plumes, and there were a lot of them. It must be something to march in this parade in those uniforms at noon in July. Look down at the end of the street and you can see the Monument in its scaffolding.
