MATCH 1: JET STREAM vs. LOCKJAW
The new kid's first win and it was a BIG one. Lockjaw spent the first five minutes throwing Jet Stream into the guardrail like a sack of laundry and telling the front row about it. He went for the Bear Trap twice and both times Jet Stream rolled through and kicked him off. Then Lockjaw made the mistake of turning his back to talk to the crowd one more time, and Jet Stream went up top, and he flew, and it was the CONTRAIL, and the building came apart. One, two, three.
WINNER: Jet Stream by pinfall. Tailwind, that's how you debut.
MATCH 2: ERIKA VETTER vs. MISTER MIDNIGHT
The lights went out for Mister Midnight's entrance like they always do, and when they came back on, Erika Vetter was already in the ring, sitting on the top turnbuckle, reading a newspaper. I laughed out loud writing that. Midnight was rattled the whole match. He hit the Witching Hour once and only got two. Vetter caught him coming off the ropes and bridged back with the Verdict, and that was the verdict.
WINNER: Erika Vetter by pinfall.
MATCH 3: HAZARD PAY vs. MONOLITH & EXCAVATOR
Two big men who don't usually team together against the former tag champs, and it showed. Monolith and Excavator are huge but they kept getting in each other's way. Funkhouser took Excavator out on the floor, and inside, Jacobson and Funkhouser hit the Wrecking Ball on Monolith. It took both of them and it took a while. After the match, the tag champs Night Shift came out on the ramp holding up their belts, and Hazard Pay pointed at them, and everybody knew what that meant.
WINNERS: Hazard Pay by pinfall on Monolith.
MATCH 4: THE AUCTIONEER vs. KID KILOWATT
The Auctioneer came out and went into his whole speech, bidding off Kid Kilowatt's boots, his tights, his entrance music. And then he waited. And Kid Kilowatt's music played. And nobody came out. The ref counted to ten.
WINNER: The Auctioneer by count-out. No roleplay from Kid Kilowatt this week, and that's rule 5. Ampere, e-mail me, man, you were our first champion. Afterward Ricky Suggs ran out and attacked The Auctioneer from behind because he was jealous of the camera time. That's a match at Breaking Point now.
MATCH 5 (HORIZON TITLE): STATIC (champion) vs. TRAVIS IBANEZ
The Alamo Kid fought his heart out. He hit the Last Roundup and Static got his foot on the rope at two and nine-tenths, and the crowd groaned so loud I could hear it in my room. Static went to the eyes when the ref was checking on the rope, hit Feedback off the middle rope, and kept the belt. Then he grabbed the mike and talked for six more minutes. Then Tracy Dorsch came out and took the mike away from him, and he finally shut up. She has her rematch at Breaking Point, and she wants it bad.
WINNER: Static by pinfall. Still Horizon Champion.
MAIN EVENT: CLYDE MARKLE & MARTIN PECK vs. THOMAS SHANE & JESUS LAO
The champ and The Professor, the two biggest mouths in SHW, teaming up against the two guys who've had enough of both of them. Markle wouldn't tag in for the first ten minutes. Peck took a beating from Lao and kept looking at his corner and Markle kept looking at his watch. When Markle finally came in, it was to hit Shane with the Blueprint, and Shane kicked out at two, and Markle's face when he did was the best part of the night. Then Lao flew over the top onto Markle on the floor, both of them were down, and inside the ring it was Shane and Peck. Steel Mill. One, two, three.
WINNERS: Thomas Shane & Jesus Lao, Shane pinned Peck.
After the bell, Shane picked up the Heavyweight belt Markle left on the floor and climbed up on the turnbuckle with it, and Markle was screaming at him from the ramp. Then the cage came down from the ceiling. Not really. But I made the match before the show was over, and it's going to be inside one.
Best roleplay of the week: Erika Vetter (Gavel). The newspaper bit was in her roleplay and I had to use it. Honorable mention to Relampago and OldSchool.
