Hi. My name is Ed Palumbo. Everybody calls me Big Ed. I am 45. I live in Buffalo, New York. I been here my whole life and I am not going anywhere.
My nephew Mike showed me how to make this page. He said just type like you talk. So that's what I'm doing.
I am a pinsetter mechanic at a bowling alley. The pinsetter is the machine behind the pins. It picks them up, sweeps the dead wood and sets them back down. We got 32 lanes of Brunswick A-2s. They are old but they run good if you treat them right. When one goes down on league night I got about two minutes before somebody starts yelling. I like my job. It's loud back there. I don't mind loud.
The Bills. I watch every game. I watched four Super Bowls in a row and we lost all four. I am still not over it. I am not going to get over it. Go Bills anyway.
The Sabres. We should have won the Cup in June. His foot was in the crease. Everybody in Buffalo knows it. I don't want to talk about it.
1989 Ford F-150. Blue. 163,000 miles. The salt ate the wheel wells but the engine is good. I change the oil myself every 3,000 miles. My buddy Stan says I need a new truck. Stan drives a Lumina. I don't take truck advice from Stan.
Yes I fix the machines and I bowl too. Tuesday night men's league. Our team is the Ten Pin Kings. My average is 186. High game 267. Never had a 300. One day.
My mom is 74. My dad was Italian and my mom is Polish, so at our house you got pierogi and spaghetti on the same table and nobody thought that was weird. She makes the best pierogi in Buffalo. I will argue with anybody on that. Potato and cheese. Sauerkraut at Christmas. Fried up in butter with onions.
Every Sunday I go over there to eat and fix whatever is broke. Last week it was the screen door. This week she says it's the toaster. I think she just likes the company. That's fine. Me too.
Why is a bowling alley so quiet?
Because you can hear a pin drop.
I tell it to every new guy. Nobody laughs. I still like it.
thats about it. thanks for stopping by.
