RIGHT NOW (Sunday afternoon) Peanut is ASLEEP. Look at the big pile of shavings on the left side. See the little hole? That's his FACE!!! He dug a nest under there and he is sleeping in it. If you look really close you can see his pink nose. He'll get up when it gets dark.

WHEN IS THE CAM ON??? * Saturdays and Sundays when the computer is on. * FRIDAY NIGHTS ALL NIGHT LONG!!! My dad leaves it on with the little desk lamp turned down low so you can see Peanut run on his wheel in the middle of the night. Hamsters are nocturnal. That means they sleep in the day and they're up at night. Peanut runs about a hundred miles a night. (My dad says that's not true. I think it's true.) |

Peanut is always in one of 4 places. Try to find him!
| 1. In his house | The orange ball in the middle. If he's in there you can't see him at ALL. Sorry. Come back later. |
| 2. Under the bedding | Look for a lump or a hole in the pile on the left. Sometimes just his nose sticks out. (That's where he is right now.) |
| 3. On the wheel | The blue wheel on the right. If you see a fast orange blur, THAT'S PEANUT!!! |
| 4. In the tube | The yellow tube goes up to his loft. He likes to sit in the top part. He is getting kind of fat for the tube. |
| Name | Peanut (because he is the color of a peanut) |
| What he is | Golden Syrian hamster. Boy. |
| Where he came from | The pet store. I got him for MY birthday, Saturday, March 13, 1999, when I turned 10. We don't know his birthday so he shares mine. |
| Weight | 136 grams!!! (on our kitchen scale, in a cereal bowl) |
| Length | About 6 inches. He won't hold still for the ruler. |
| Favorite foods | Sunflower seeds (#1!!!), broccoli, a little piece of carrot, plain oat cereal (the O kind, no sugar) |
| NOT allowed | Candy, chocolate, onions, potato chips. My little cousin tried to give him a chip. |
| CHEEK POUCH RECORD | 11 SUNFLOWER SEEDS!!! I counted them when he emptied his cheeks out in the corner. It's on the Greatest Hits page. |
| Times he bit me | 2 (both my fault, see tip #1) |
| Times he escaped | 1 (see tip #4!!!) |
We got a new computer in May and it came with a little round camera in the box. In June my dad put the camera on the desk pointing at Peanut's cage (his cage is on the end of the computer desk) and set up a program that takes a picture every 2 minutes and puts it on my page. That's all I know. Ask my dad. The pictures on the bulletin board behind the cage are drawings of Peanut that I did in art.

A note from Edwin's dad Several people have written to ask why Edwin's page doesn't have his last name or our town on it. That's on purpose. Our rule at home is that the kids don't put their last name, our address, their school or our phone number on the Internet, the same way they wouldn't give them to a stranger on the phone. Edwin knows the rule and helped write it. If you want to write to him about Peanut, please use the e-mail link at the bottom of the page. I read the mail with him, and he answers every letter, usually in capital letters. Thank you for watching our hamster. I never expected a hamster to get more mail than I do. Edwin's Dad |
