Tales from Mossflower
Kathleen's Redwall Fan Fiction

Welcome, traveler! Come in and sit by the fire. My name is Kathleen and I am thirteen and I live in Oregon, where it rains about as much as it does in Mossflower Wood, I think. I have read every Redwall book there is (well, every one I can get, see below) and some of them four or five times. My copy of Mariel of Redwall is held together with packing tape.

This is where I put my own Redwall stories. They are about new creatures I made up, an otter maid at a river ford and some Abbeybeasts trying to catch a thief, but they all live in Brian Jacques's world, with the Abbey and Mossflower and the Long Patrol and all the vermin who are always trying to take over. I write them in a green notebook during study hall and type them on our family computer on weekends, when my little brother Joseph isn't playing Lego Island on it.

DISCLAIMER: Redwall, Mossflower, Salamandastron, the Long Patrol and everything else from the books belong to Brian Jacques. I don't own any of it, I just borrow it because I love it so much. I am not making any money. All the creatures in my stories are my own, so please don't use them without asking me first!

RATING: My stories are fine for anybeast. There are battles but nothing gross. Some vermin get what's coming to them but I don't describe it in a disgusting way. My mom reads everything before it goes up.

~ My Stories ~

The Otter of Stonecress Ford (complete)
Rilla Streamstripe wants adventure, not a boring old river crossing. Then a rat army comes to the ford in a flood, and only an otter who knows every stone can stop them.
The Bell Thief (Chapters 1 and 2) New!
On the night before the Autumn Feast, the little silver Acorn Bell vanishes from the Abbey belltower. A novice mouse and a young mole set out to find it.
Chapter 3 is coming at Halloween!

~ The Books I Have Read ~

In the order they came out. The stars are how much I love each one, out of five. (They are ALL good. This is just how much.)

BookMy stars
Redwall (1986). The first one! Matthias and Cluny the Scourge.*****
Mossflower (1988). How Martin came to Mossflower.*****
Mattimeo (1989). Slagar the fox is SO creepy.****
Mariel of Redwall (1991). My favorite. Mariel is the best warrior ever.*****!
Salamandastron (1992). Badgers and hares and the mountain.****
Martin the Warrior (1993). I cried. Don't read the end on the bus.*****
The Bellmaker (1994). Bells! Probably why I wrote The Bell Thief.****
Outcast of Redwall (1995). Made me think the most.****
Pearls of Lutra (1996). Riddles and a treasure hunt.****
The Long Patrol (1997). The hares are so funny.*****
Marlfox (1998). Sneaky foxes who can almost disappear.****

That's eleven. I am waiting for the next one. Our library doesn't have it yet and the lady at the desk says she will call me the minute it comes in. I have asked her about four times. She knows my voice now.

~ Kathleen's Autumn Feast ~
Everybody who reads Redwall knows the best part is the feasts. Here is the menu I made up for the Autumn Feast in The Bell Thief.

~ To Begin ~
Mushroom and barley soup with crusty oatcobs
Watercress and dandelion salad with crushed hazelnuts

~ The Main Dishes ~
Golden squash pasties, hot from the oven
Riverbank leek and pepper chowder (for otters only, too spicy for mice!)
Potato and turnip bake with a cheese crust a paw thick

~ Puddings ~
Blackberry and apple crumble with thick cream
Honey and chestnut scones
Friar Clove's famous seven-layer acorn cake

~ To Drink ~
Hot spiced pear cordial
Dandelion fizz
Cold mint tea for anybeast who ate too much
I tried to make the crumble for real with my mom. It was good! The acorn cake I am not going to try.

Please write and tell me what you think of my stories! Especially if you have read all the books too.
