Hi! My name is Jonathan and I am 9 years old and in 4th grade. This is my city. It is made out of
LEGO and it is on our ping pong table in the basement. I started it at Christmas in 1997 when I got
the fire station and the police station. Now it takes up the WHOLE table. We don't play ping pong any
more but that's ok because nobody was good at it.
In August my mom put a camera on the shelf over the table so my grandma and my cousins and everybody
can see my city on the Internet. It looks down the whole table. You can see the couch and my bike in the
back too.
WHAT'S DIFFERENT TODAY?
Every day after school (and on weekends too) I change ONE thing in the city. Look at the
picture and see if you can find what's different! The answer is hiding in the yellow box. Highlight it
with your mouse to see it.

ANSWER: The fire truck is on the other side of the bridge now! It is
going to a fire at the space base. (There is not really a fire.)
|
Last week's answers:
Monday: the police chief is on the roof of the police station.
Tuesday: I built a hot dog stand by the river.
Wednesday: the airplane turned around.
Thursday: I made the pizza place 2 floors.
Friday: The hot dog stand fell in the river. (Zachary)

EVERYTHING IN MY CITY
- Police station. It is white with a blue light on top. It has 1 jail cell. Nobody is in it right now.
- Fire station. Red. It has the fire truck and a pole.
- Pizza place. It has a red and white awning. It is the most popular place in the city.
- Houses. 5 houses with red and blue roofs. The yellow one is mine.
- The river goes all the way across the middle. It is made of blue flat pieces.
- The bridge. It is gray and you can drive the fire truck over it.
- The airport. It has a runway, an airplane and a helicopter.
- Space base. It has a rocket on a launch pad. It is going to Mars someday.
- The zoo. It has a fence and 1 giraffe. I am saving up for more animals.
- The ping pong net is still there. It is the fence for the airport and the space base so nobody
walks on the runway.
POPULATION
I count all the little people sometimes. It is hard because they fall down and go under things.

MY CITY AT NIGHT
Friday, September 17, 1999, 8:52 at night
On Friday my mom let me stay up till 9. I turned off the basement light and put my flashlight inside the
police station so the camera could see the city at night. The police station is the only place that
stays open all night. You can see the light coming out the door and the windows. My dad says it looks
like a real city from an airplane. My mom saved the picture so it would not go away.
RULES FOR ZACHARY
(Zachary is my brother. He is 6.)
1. You can LOOK at the city any time.
2. Ask before you touch.
3. Do NOT touch the rocket. Ever.
4. The giraffe stays in the zoo.
5. The little people are not for taking upstairs.
6. If something breaks, tell me. Don't hide it under the couch.
7. The green corner by the zoo is yours. You can build anything there.
Signed, Jonathan

A note from Jonathan's mom: Jonathan writes every word of this page himself, and I just fix
the spelling a little. Thank you to everyone who has written to him. He reads every letter, usually out loud
to his brother. Please don't ask him where we live!
