ROSIE'S RED & BLUE TIPS I made this page green like a Game Boy screen. Mine is a Game Boy Pocket so it's actually more gray, but green looks better. |
I have Pokemon Red and Mateo has Blue. I have 118 in my Pokedex. These are the things I wish somebody told me at the start. There are no spoilers about the end, except the Master Ball one.

> BUY THE MAGIKARP. At the Pokemon Center next to Mt. Moon there's a man who sells a Magikarp for 500. Everybody says it's a rip-off. It's NOT. It only knows Splash, but put it first in your party and switch it out right away, and it still gets experience. At level 20 it turns into Gyarados!! > PICK YOUR FOSSIL CAREFULLY. At the end of Mt. Moon you get to take the Dome Fossil or the Helix Fossil, and the other one is gone. Dome is Kabuto and Helix is Omanyte. You bring it back to life at the lab on Cinnabar Island. I took Helix. Also look around in Mt. Moon for a Moon Stone. > FREE EEVEE!!! In Celadon City go in the BACK door of Celadon Mansion and go all the way up the stairs. There's a Poke Ball on a table in the room at the top, and it's an Eevee. You only get ONE in the whole game so think hard before you use a stone on it. The stones are for sale at the Celadon Dept. Store. I picked Water Stone. (Of course.) > THE FIGHTING DOJO. It's in Saffron City right next to the gym. Beat everybody and the karate master lets you have Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan. I took Hitmonlee because it kicks. > FISHING RODS. Old Rod = the Fishing Guru in Vermilion City. Good Rod = his brother in Fuchsia City. Super Rod = the other brother on Route 12. The Old Rod only ever catches Magikarp. Don't get excited. > THE SAFARI ZONE. In Fuchsia City. It costs 500 to get in and you get 30 Safari Balls, and you can only walk so many steps before they make you leave. Throw bait so they don't run away, but they won't get caught as easy. I caught a Chansey after like five tries and I screamed so loud my mom came in. Also there's a secret house way in the back where you get Surf, and you need to find the Gold Teeth and give them to the Warden (the man with the funny talking) for Strength. > GET A BIKE. In Vermilion City go in the Pokemon Fan Club and listen to the chairman talk about his Rapidash. It takes forever but he gives you a Bike Voucher. Take it to the bike shop in Cerulean City. > SAVE THE MASTER BALL. The president of Silph Co. gives you the Master Ball. It catches anything for sure. DON'T waste it on a Zubat by accident like Mateo did. Save it for something really, really good. (I'm not saying what.) |
