Hi Cougar families! I'm Shelly Vandenberg, this year's Fall Festival chairman (mom of a 4th grader and a 1st grader).
Our PTA President asked me to put the Festival information on the Internet this year, since so many of you
have computers at home now and the paper flyers tend to end up in the bottom of the backpack under a banana.
Please check back here, I'll update the volunteer list every few days.
This year's goal is $4,500 for new playground equipment to replace the old metal slide (you know the one, it's been hot enough to fry an egg on since about 1975). Last year's Festival raised $3,812 and bought six new computers for the computer lab, so we know you can do it! |

The Booths Each grade runs a booth. Room parents, your teachers have the details!
About the Haunted Hallway: From 5:30 to 6:30 the lights stay ON and it's "not-so-spooky" for our littlest Cougars. After 6:30 the 5th graders turn the lights off and do their worst. Mrs. Pelletier has approved every scare, so nothing too gross, promise. PIE THE PRINCIPAL! The classroom that sells the most pre-sale tickets gets to pick one student to hit Mr. Hadley with a whipped cream pie at 8:00 in the gym. He says he's been practicing ducking. Silent Auction: every classroom is putting together a theme basket (so far we have a movie night basket, a Beanie Babies basket, a car care basket and a "teacher for a day" basket from Mrs. Ortiz). Local businesses are also donating. Bidding closes at 8:00 sharp! |

HELP WANTED!!
We need grown-ups to work one-hour shifts: 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30. Work one shift and you still have two to enjoy the Festival with your kids! E-mail me with the booth and the shift you want. Still needed as of Thursday:

PTA meetings are the second Monday of the month at 7:00 in the library. Free babysitting in the kindergarten room! Next meetings: Monday, Oct. 11 (Festival final plans) and Monday, Nov. 8. Box Tops and soup labels: keep clipping! Send them in a baggie with your child's name and room number. The classroom with the most by Thanksgiving gets an extra recess. Right now Mrs. Koenig's 3rd grade is winning by a mile, I think somebody's grandma has a system. Reflections: the PTA arts contest is open to every grade (art, photography, writing, music). Entries are due to the office by Friday, Nov. 5. Forms are in the office. Poster contest winner: Congratulations to Madison in 2nd grade, whose Fall Festival poster (a cougar eating a sno-cone) is hanging in the front hall! 1999-2000 PTA Officers: President Lori Esterline, Vice President Gina Tran, Secretary Pam Wiebe, Treasurer Kurt Halvorsen, Festival Chairman Shelly Vandenberg (me) |
