The Heart of the Ocean
a page for Leonardo DiCaprio & the most beautiful movie ever made

Hi, I'm Marisa. I'm 14 and I live in New Jersey, and ever since December 1997 there have been two things I think about more than anything: Leo, and Titanic. (Also school, a little, because my mom checks.) I made this page over the summer so all of us who feel the same way have somewhere to go.

There are no pictures of Leo here because our scanner is broken, and my dad says it's "not a priority." So close your eyes and picture him. You're welcome.

All About Leo

Full nameLeonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio
BirthdayNovember 11, 1974 (a Scorpio!) in Los Angeles. He turns 25 this fall.
His nameThe story is his mom was looking at a Leonardo da Vinci painting in Italy when he kicked for the first time. So he's named after an artist. Which is PERFECT when you think about Jack.
Started outOn TV, as Luke on Growing Pains
First Oscar nominationFor What's Eating Gilbert Grape, when he was only 19
Next movieThe Beach. He filmed it in Thailand this year and it's supposed to come out next year. I'm already counting.

My Leo Movies, In Order of Love

Titanic (1997) – obviously. See below.

Romeo + Juliet (1996) – when they see each other through the fish tank for the first time I actually hold my breath.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) – he plays Johnny Depp's little brother Arnie and you completely forget it's him. That's real acting.

The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) – he plays TWINS. Two Leos. My sister and I rented it three weekends in a row.

Marvin's Room (1996) – sad, with Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton. My mom liked this one best.

Titanic

I have seen Titanic in the theater seven times. Once with my mom, once with my cousin Alyssa, four times with my friends, and one time my dad took me and my sister and he said he had something in his eye at the end. Sure, Dad. I got the video the day it came out last September. It's on TWO tapes because it's over three hours long, and I've watched both so many times the second tape makes a crackly noise at the start.

My four favorite parts (no spoilers for the three people who haven't seen it):

  • Jack winning his ticket in a card game about five minutes before the ship leaves. Imagine if he'd lost.
  • The party down in third class with the fiddles, where Rose dances on her toes. So much more fun than the stuffy dinner upstairs.
  • The two of them at the very front of the ship at sunset with her arms out. You know the one. Everybody knows the one.
  • The very end, on the grand staircase. I start crying about ten minutes before it even happens because I know it's coming.

The movie won 11 Oscars, which ties Ben-Hur for the most ever. Kate Winslet was nominated too, and so was Gloria Stuart, who plays Rose when she's old. But Leo didn't even get nominated. I'm still not over it. I will never be over it.

Jack and Rose are characters James Cameron wrote, but the ship was real. It sank on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg late the night before, and more than 1,500 people died. Some of the people in the movie were real too, like Molly Brown and Captain Smith. I did my history report on it last year and got an A. Also, Jack says he's from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and I looked in the atlas and it's a real town!

I don't own Titanic or anything about Leo. Titanic belongs to Paramount and 20th Century Fox. This is just a fan page made with love.
