Fort Street Ponies Classic Mustang Club · back to the main page

Not every car in the club, just the ones whose owners said OK to put them on the Internet. In order by year, oldest first, which means Walt goes first, which he likes.

YEARCAR / OWNER / STORY
64½Convertible, 260 V8. Walt Ferency. Bought new off the lot in July 1964. Still has the generator. Walt says the only things not original are the tires, the top, and the radio, which got stolen in 1978 outside a bowling alley in Taylor.
65Convertible, Poppy Red, 289. Rita Szabo. Her dad's car. She learned to drive in it and now she won't let her own kids touch it. Ladies' Choice at the Pony Roundup this year.
652+2 fastback, GT, A-code 289 four-barrel. Frank Delgado. Found it in a barn near Monroe in 1992 with a raccoon family living in the back seat. Six years of weekends. It's gorgeous now. The raccoons were relocated.
66Hardtop, Wimbledon White, C-code 289. Stan Wojcik (me). Bought in 1971 for $1,150. Daily driver until 1984. Now a Sunday car. Pony interior, which I put in myself in 1990 and only swore a little.
66Convertible, yellow with a white top. Ed and Lorraine Kaminski. Their wedding car in 1966. They still take it out every anniversary. This year was 33.
67Fastback, 390 GT, four-speed. Gil Brodeur, our president. '67 was the first year you could get the big 390 in a Mustang, and Gil will tell you about it whether you ask or not.
68Fastback, Highland Green, 390 GT. Carl Hendricks. Yes, like the movie. Best of Show at the Pony Roundup. Carl has seen Bullitt more times than he will admit to his wife.
68California Special. Tony Russo. The special hardtop Ford sold out West in '68, with the Shelby-style taillights and the side scoops. Tony flew to Sacramento in 1994, bought it, and drove it home in four days. Only one flat.
69Mach 1, 351. Joe Pastorek. The first year of the Mach 1. Overheated at the Dream Cruise (see the front page). New radiator is on order.
69Grande. Barb Novak. The dressy one, with the vinyl roof and the wood-grain dash. Barb says a Mustang can be a lady too. It can, Barb.
70Boss 302. Don Mazurek, our treasurer. Orange, black stripes, shaker hood. Don has owned it since 1976 and has never once let me drive it. Twenty-three years, Don.
71Mach 1, 429 Cobra Jet. Pete Dombrowski. The big one. Pete gets about nine miles to the gallon and considers that a fair trade.
73Convertible. Bud and Helen Garrity. The last year of the first generation, and the last Mustang convertible Ford built until the '83s came out. Bud bought it in 1973 because he said they'd never make another one, and for ten years he was right.

STILL IN THE GARAGE (projects): a '65 hardtop that Mike Lutz has been "almost done" with since 1988, a '67 coupe that needs both quarter panels, and a '70 Mach 1 shell that Joe Pastorek swears he'll get to after the '69. His wife has a different opinion.

For sale or wanted: Bring it to a meeting or put it in The Corral. Members' ads are free. I don't put them on the web page because last time somebody got calls from Ohio at 11 at night.
