PHOENIX WOMAN REFUSES TO LET SHOW END
Two years after cancellation, "they're still married in my house," she says
PHOENIX, Ariz. — Hi, and welcome to the Morgue! On a newspaper, the morgue is the room where they keep all the old issues, clipped and filed, so a reporter can go back and look something up. This one is where I keep my stories.
I'm Kris. I'm forty-five, I'm a medical transcriptionist (I type up what the doctors say into their little tape recorders, all day long, with a foot pedal), and I have two teenage sons, Justin and Luke, who think it is hilarious that their mother writes about Superman on the computer after supper. My husband Mike is more supportive. He reads everything I post and tells me which parts Perry would never say.
I came to Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman late. I caught a rerun in the summer of 1994, flipping channels while Mike was out of town, and that was that. For the next three years I didn't miss an episode, and when I had to work late, Justin was under strict orders to tape it. I liked the action fine, but what I really watched for was the two of them in the newsroom: Teri Hatcher's Lois going ninety miles an hour and Dean Cain's Clark standing there letting her, because he already knew how it was going to turn out and she didn't.
ABC ended the show in June 1997, after four seasons, and left us with a baby nobody ever explained. I think all of us FoLCs (that's Fans of Lois and Clark, if you're new) have spent two years writing our own fifth season. This is mine, and a few other things besides.
Pull up a chair. There's coffee. It's probably cold, but there's coffee.
TODAY'S EDITION
Second Coffee
Rated G | WAFF, humor | Season One | Complete, about 1,500 words
One morning Clark doesn't bring Lois her coffee, and the whole newsroom suffers for it. Set early on, while Lois still thinks Clark is a hack from Kansas and Superman hung the moon.
|
Season Five
Rated PG | Drama, WAFF | After the last episode | Parts 1 and 2 posted, more to come
My answer to the cliffhanger. It's two in the morning, there is a baby in the house, and the note doesn't say whose. SPOILERS for "The Family Hour."

|
COMING SOON: Season Five, Part 3 (it's written in longhand; it just has to get typed, and I type for a living, so you'd think...). Also a short Christmas story set in Smallville that I've been promising since last December.

| LEGAL NOTICES |
| Lois Lane, Clark Kent, Superman, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Martha and Jonathan Kent and everybody else from the show belong to DC Comics and Warner Bros., not to me. I'm only borrowing them, and I put them back where I found them. No money is made from these stories. Nobody would pay me anyway. Any characters you don't recognize are mine; please ask before you borrow them. |

| THE RATINGS DESK |
G means anybody can read it, your mother, your kids, your pastor.
PG means a little peril, a little arguing, maybe a kiss. That is as far as anything here goes.
WAFF means a Warm And Fuzzy Feeling. Our word for the kind of story that makes you sigh and put your hand on your heart.
Spoilers are always marked at the top, in red. |

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
"I printed out Second Coffee for my sister, who never watched the show, and now she wants the tapes. You've created a monster." — LaneFan
"Part 2 of Season Five! Finally! Kris, the floating thing at the end, I yelled out loud at work." — smallvillegirl
Feedback is the only pay we get, and it is the thing that gets the next part typed. Tell me what you liked, tell me what didn't work, tell me if Clark sounded like Clark. I answer everybody, usually on my lunch break.
