Commander's Column by Post Commander Roy Albaugh Comrades, Summer went fast. Thank you to everyone who marched on the Fourth, and a special thank you to the Honor Guard, who stood out on the courthouse lawn in ninety-four degrees and did not so much as sway. Thanks also to the three new members who signed up at the county fair booth. Welcome to Post 5871, Rick, Tony and Darnell. The coffee is free and the advice is worth what you pay for it. Two things coming up this month. The Labor Day chicken barbecue is Monday, September 6, starting at 11 until they're gone. We need men on the pits at 6 a.m. Talk to Dennis. And National POW/MIA Recognition Day is Friday, September 17. We will hold a short ceremony at the flagpole at 6:00 p.m. and set the empty table in the hall. I ask every member who can to be there. We still have men who never came home, and we don't forget them. The Post roof is fixed. It only took three bids, two meetings and one very long argument. Thank you to Gil for riding herd on the contractor. In comradeship, |
