Our Yard List
Every bird seen in or over our back yard since the feeder went up in 1987
[ Back to the FeederCam ]
A bird goes on the list the first time one of us sees it well enough to be sure, from
the house or the yard, and it goes on in the year we saw it. Fred's eyes are better than mine, but I'm
the one who writes it down. Thirty-one years of keeping books will do that to a person.

You'll notice nothing new in 1998. We had a good year for birds and not one of them was
new. That's how it goes once the easy ones are in. I'd give a good deal for a Carolina Wren, which people
down in the valley have been getting, and Fred is holding out for a Snowy Owl, which I tell him isn't going
to land on the feeder.
If you have a bird you think we ought to be seeing, or a question about one on the list,
write to me at [email protected].
