This is the Second Story logon screen the way it looked on the last night, Saturday, October 26, 1996, redrawn by hand with table borders where the line-drawing characters used to be. By then the board was on a 28.8 modem, but the screen hadn't changed since 1991. The caller logging in is Moonpie, who said I could use her.

Second Story goes down for good at 4 a.m. Sunday, after the last call on Saturday night. You all know why. I won't make a speech.

The message bases will stay up until the end, so say what you want to say. Gearhead, the Trade Wars universe is yours to keep: I'll put it on a floppy for you. Moonpie and Thrasher, I'm still waiting on the date. Old Salt, thank you for eleven years of calling at 10:45 like a clock.

Since March 1985 this board has taken more than sixty-one thousand calls. I read every message. I'd do it again.

The GT is still on for the second Saturday in November, same pizza place, same table. That doesn't need a phone line.
