My Painting Log Every painting since January 1985, and where it ended up << Back to Sunday Painter I've kept this log since my very first painting, in a green spiral notebook that lives in the drawer of my card table. It has paint on almost every page. I can't put the paintings themselves on the computer yet, because we don't have a scanner and you can't get a good picture of an oil painting with the little camera anyway (the shine gets in the way). So for now this will have to do: the number, the day I finished it, what I called it and who has it. Most of them I painted along with Bob on a Sunday afternoon, so most of the dates are Sundays. I give them my own names, since mine don't always come out looking like his. What the notes mean: Kept means it's somewhere in our house, which is getting full. In the garage means I'm not ready to throw it out but I'm not hanging it either. Painted over means I scraped it and used the canvas again, which you can do with oils. The church bazaar is the fall bazaar at our church, and the money goes to the missions fund. 1985 | 1986 | 1987 | 1988 | 1989 | 1990 | 1991 | 1992 | 1993 | 1994 | 1995 | 1996 | 1997 | 1998 | 1999 No. Date What I called it Who has it 1985 1 Jan. 13 Mountain Lake (the casserole) Kept. A few numbers, since Ron asked: 211 paintings in fourteen years and nine months. 29 kept, 16 sold at the church bazaar, 10 painted over, 7 in the garage, and the other 149 given away. Wanda and Jason are tied for the most, fifteen apiece (I suspect some of Jason's are in a closet), and Phyllis is one behind, though she has both of my class paintings. Number 155 is the one I'd save in a fire. If you got one of these from me and you've moved it to a different room, you don't need to tell me. But if you'd like to send me a picture of it on your wall someday, I wouldn't mind that one bit. << Back to Sunday Painter  |  Write to me Log last updated Sunday, September 19, 1999 (number 211)
