Okay. I have been walking around SunsetStrip for months now and it is Backstreet, Backstreet, Backstreet as far as the eye can see. Nick's birthday. Brian's favorite color. Kevin's cheekbones. Every other page has the same five guys and the same slow song playing in somebody's head. So I am Monique, I'm 17, I live in Atlanta, and this page is the answer.
For the record: I own Backstreet's Back. It's fine. They're fine. I'm not here to be mean. I'm here to be correct.
| THE FIVE | ||
| Justin | Jan. 31, 1981 Tennessee |
The youngest, the curls, the dancing. Was on the Mickey Mouse Club as a kid. |
| JC | Aug. 8, 1976 D.C. area |
Also Mickey Mouse Club. The best voice in any boy band, period. Also the cutest, and I will not be taking questions. |
| Chris | Oct. 17, 1971 Pennsylvania |
The oldest, the funniest, the one who got the group started. Birthday next month! |
| Joey | Jan. 28, 1977 Brooklyn |
Loud, happy, from New York and proud of it. He and Chris both used to perform at Universal Studios in Orlando. |
| Lance | May 4, 1979 Mississippi |
The bass. Joined last, holds it all up from underneath. The polite one. |
Where the name comes from: Justin's mom said the boys sounded really in sync. Then somebody noticed the last letters of their names spell it out: justiN, chriS, joeY, lansteN (that's Lance's nickname) and JC. You cannot make that up.
Fun fact that will annoy somebody: Joey and Nick Carter have the same birthday, January 28. Three years apart. It means nothing. I just like bringing it up.
| "BUT BACKSTREET..." : MY ANSWERS |
|
"Backstreet was first." "*NSYNC is just a copy." "Millennium sold over a million copies in one week." "They can't sing live." "America only noticed them because of the Disney Channel." |
MY TOP SIX
Also the song with Gloria Estefan that's on the radio right now? The harmonies. I'm just saying.

THE TRUCE CORNER (because I'm the bigger person) Things both sides can agree on: five guys is the right number. Matching outfits are a choice we all have to respect. Both groups work really hard. And whoever you like, nobody should be sending anybody mean e-mail over it. If you're a Backstreet fan and you made it this far, I respect you. Now go listen to Tearin' Up My Heart one time. Just once. |
