The One With the Episode List

Every Friends episode is called "The One Where..." or "The One With...", which is exactly how you'd describe it to a friend on Friday morning. ("Did you see the one where Joey wears all of Chandler's clothes?") So here are mine: not every episode, just the ones I'd tape over anything else for. Stars are coffee cups, out of five.

Season One (1994–95)

The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate — 5 cups: The very first one. Rachel in the wedding dress, dripping wet in Central Perk. You knew right away.
The One with the Thumb — 4 cups: Phoebe finds a thumb in her soda. Chandler starts smoking again.
The One with the Blackout — 5 cups: Ross almost tells her, and then Paolo. And Chandler trapped in the bank machine booth with a Victoria's Secret model.
The One Where Underdog Gets Away — 4 cups: Their first Thanksgiving, and they all get locked out.
The One Where Nana Dies Twice — 3 cups: Sad and funny at the same time, which they're better at than anybody.
The One Where Rachel Finds Out — 5 cups: The birthday, the slip, the airport. I screamed.

Season Two (1995–96)

The One with the List — 4 cups: Ross, a computer, and a list of pros and cons. Never, ever write it down, Ross.
The One Where Ross Finds Out — 5 cups: The drunk message. And then Central Perk after closing. Finally!
The One with Five Steaks and an Eggplant — 4 cups: The money fight. Every group of friends has had this exact night.
The One with the Prom Video — 5 cups: My favorite episode of anything, ever. The tuxedo. The kiss.
The One Where Ross and Rachel... You Know — 4 cups: The date at the museum after hours. Sweet.
The One Where Eddie Moves In — 4 cups: Chandler's new roommate is not right. Joey is jealous. Hilarious.

Season Three (1996–97)

The One Where No One's Ready — 5 cups: One apartment, half an hour, nobody dressed, and Joey in every piece of clothing Chandler owns. The funniest episode they've done.
The One with the Football — 4 cups: Monica and Ross and the Geller Cup. Now you know where Monica gets it.
The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break — 3 cups: Well made. I just can't watch it.
The One the Morning After — 4 cups: The saddest half hour of TV comedy I know. Everybody else hiding in Monica's bedroom.
The One with the Flashback — 4 cups: What they were all up to a few years before the first episode, bad hair and all. A must.

Season Four (1997–98)

The One with the Jellyfish — 4 cups: You all know why. And the letter.
The One with Chandler in a Box — 4 cups: Thanksgiving, and Chandler proves he's sorry the hard way.
The One with the Embryos — 5 cups: The trivia game where the girls lose their apartment. Nobody knows what Chandler does for a living. Neither do I.
The One with All the Rugby — 3 cups: Ross, in shorts, getting flattened by Emily's friends.
The One with Ross's Wedding — 5 cups: London. The name. And Monica and Chandler! Two parts, both perfect.

Season Five (1998–99)

The One with All the Thanksgivings — 5 cups: The turkey on Monica's head. That's all I need to say.
The One with Ross's Sandwich — 4 cups: Never touch a man's leftover Thanksgiving sandwich.
The One Where Everybody Finds Out — 5 cups: Phoebe versus Chandler. Who's going to crack first? Best of the season.
The One with the Cop — 4 cups: Ross, a new couch, and a very narrow staircase. Steph and I still yell at each other when we move furniture.
The One in Vegas — 4 cups: Two parts. Ends in a wedding chapel. See the front page for my feelings.

Season Six (started September 23!)

The One After Vegas — 4 cups: The morning after the chapel. And Courteney is Courteney Cox Arquette in the credits now. Congratulations, Monica!
