DAVID'S VIRTUAL BOY HEADQUARTERS 3-D GAMES IN RED!!! WELCOME TO MY PAGE! My name is David. I am 11 and in 6th grade in Arizona. I got a Virtual Boy for my birthday in September and I think it is the coolest thing Nintendo ever made. This page is about my Virtual Boy, my games, my high scores, and why everybody at school is WRONG about it. [ WHAT IT IS ] [ MY GAMES ] [ HIGH SCORES ] [ TAKE BREAKS ] [ EVERYBODY IS WRONG ] [ VB CLUB ] WHAT IS A VIRTUAL BOY? It's Nintendo's new game system and it's in REAL 3-D. Not pretend 3-D like on a regular TV. It came out August 14, 1995. It sits on a stand on the table and you put your face up to it, kind of like looking into binoculars. Everything is red on black. That's how it makes the 3-D. Some things are far away and some things are right in your face. The controller has handles on both sides and a control pad on EACH side, so in some games one pad moves you and the other one does something else. It has A and B and Start and Select and two buttons on the back where your fingers go. It runs on 6 AA batteries in a pack that snaps onto the controller. (Get rechargeables. Trust me.) There are two adjustments on top, one to focus it and one for how far apart your eyes are. Set those first or it looks blurry. It was $179.95 when it came out. It came with Mario's Tennis. MY GAMES Ratings are out of 5 stars. * = bad, ***** = the best. MARIO'S TENNIS ***** This one came in the box. You can be Mario, Luigi, the Princess, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa Troopa or Donkey Kong Jr. The court goes back away from you in 3-D and you can tell exactly where the ball is going to land. I am best as Yoshi because he is fast. Doubles is fun too. RED ALARM **** You fly a fighter ship through tunnels and shoot stuff. Everything is drawn with lines, like a skeleton of the world. It is SO cool in 3-D but sometimes you can't tell if a wall is close or far until you crash into it. Hard. TELEROBOXER **** Robot boxing! You're inside the robot looking out. The left pad is your left arm and the right pad is your right arm. When the other robot punches you it comes right at your face and I flinch every time. GALACTIC PINBALL ***** Space pinball with four tables: Cosmic, Colony, UFO and Alien. It's a puck instead of a ball. The 3-D makes the bumpers stick up at you. My little brother Caleb likes this one the best. MARIO CLASH **** Mario on ledges, some in front and some in the back, and you throw Koopa shells from the front to the back to knock the bad guys off. It's like the first 3-D Mario. It gets hard fast. VIRTUAL BOY WARIO LAND *****+ MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!! BEST GAME ON VIRTUAL BOY! Wario goes down into a cave looking for treasure and he can jump into the background and back out to the front. When he gets the bull helmet he can smash through stuff. The bosses are huge and they come right at you. I have played it every day since Christmas. (With breaks. Mom, if you are reading this.) The manual says you should take a break every so often, even if you don't feel like you need one, and the Virtual Boy even has an Automatic Pause that stops the game and reminds you. It also says it's not for kids under 7. My mom read the whole warning page out loud at my birthday party. Now she sets the kitchen timer. When it dings I have to go outside or do something else for 15 minutes. I usually go shoot baskets. It's actually a good idea because your eyes feel funny if you play too long. WHY EVERYBODY AT SCHOOL IS WRONG "It gives you a headache." Only if you play for 3 hours straight. Take breaks! See above! "It's only red." Red is cool. It's like being inside a laser. And real 3-D is better than colors anyway. "The PlayStation is better." Neal says this. Neal has a PlayStation. It cost $299. Nobody else I know has one. Also, it's a different thing. The Virtual Boy isn't trying to be a PlayStation. "You can't carry it around like a Game Boy." It's not supposed to be a Game Boy. It has BOY in the name, that's all. "There aren't enough games." It just came out!! More are coming. When the NES came out it didn't have very many games either. (My dad told me that.) "You look dumb playing it." Branden said this. I can't see you laughing at me when my face is in it, Branden, so it doesn't matter. THE VB CLUB I am a member of the VB Club! It's a club for Virtual Boy owners and it's all by e-mail.
