>> LAUNCH CONTROL

Welcome aboard. My name is Dustin Mayfield, I'm 22, and I live in Titusville, Florida, which is the town right across the Indian River from the launch pads. When a shuttle goes up, the whole town goes out to the riverbank with lawn chairs and coolers. I was out there for all three tries at Columbia in July. The third one went, a little after midnight, and lit up the river bright as noon for about a minute. I still don't have words for it. So I make space graphics instead.

I finished my physics degree in May, and until the job I actually want turns up I work nights at a copy shop, which leaves my days free for Paint Shop Pro. Starport is where I put what I make. Everything on this page is free for your home page. Read the Flight Rules, link back, and have fun.

The whole page you're looking at is Set 01, so you can see how it hangs together before you take it.

>> FLIGHT RULES

* Free for non-commercial home pages. Astronomy club, school project, your Star Trek page, your cat's page, whatever. Business pages, ask first.

* Save everything to your own space. Everything. Don't point your IMG tags at my files, and that includes the link button. If my address ever changes your page would go dark, and in the meantime you'd be burning my bandwidth.

* Link back to Starport from any page that uses the set.

* Don't redistribute. No putting the set in your own graphics collection or on a CD-ROM of free web art.

* Tell me where it landed. Send me your address. I keep a list and I read every page on it.

>> DOCKING INSTRUCTIONS (LINKING BACK)

Save the link button, upload it next to your page, and paste this where you want it. If you name the file something other than spacelink.gif, change it to match:

<a href="/CapeCanaveral/Galaxy/9804/">
<img src="spacelink.gif" width="88" height="31"
border="0" alt="Starport Space Graphics"></a>

More code for the background, buttons and bullets, plus how I make chrome, is in the Flight Manual.

>> NEXT ON THE PAD

SET 02: "RED PLANET." Rusty Mars dust for a background, a rover-track divider, and buttons that look like they've been sandblasted. I want it finished before Mars Polar Lander sets down in December. It's about half done. Under construction

SET 03: "LAUNCH DAY." Orange sky, exhaust plume, a countdown clock divider. Only sketches so far.
