Colleen's
Link's Awakening Page
Zelda on my Game Boy Color!!!

Hi! My name is Colleen and I am 10 years old. This is my page about The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. It is the BEST Game Boy game ever made and I am not just saying that.

I got a Game Boy Color for my birthday (it's Kiwi, which is green, which is Link's color) and Link's Awakening DX came with it because my mom knew. I beat it in the car on our trip to my grandma's this summer. It took nine hours to get there and I only stopped for lunch. Then I started a new file at home and beat it AGAIN, faster.

So I know what I'm talking about. Here is everything you need.

Pages:  Home  |  The Color Dungeon

What it's about

Link is sailing on a boat and there's a big storm and lightning and his boat breaks. He washes up on the beach of Koholint Island. A girl named Marin finds him and brings him to her house, and her dad Tarin gives him his shield back.

On top of the mountain in the middle of the island there is a giant egg, and inside the egg the Wind Fish is asleep. The only way Link can leave the island is to wake him up. To wake him up you need the eight Instruments of the Sirens. They are in eight dungeons.

Marin is the nicest person in the whole game. She sings. She wants to see the world past the ocean. When you get the ocarina she teaches you her song, and you need it at the very end, so don't skip it.

The 8 Instruments

In order! You have to do them in order anyway, the game makes you.

#DungeonInstrument
1Tail CaveFull Moon Cello
2Bottle GrottoConch Horn
3Key CavernSea Lily's Bell
4Angler's TunnelSurf Harp
5Catfish's MawWind Marimba
6Face ShrineCoral Triangle
7Eagle's TowerOrgan of Evening Calm
8Turtle RockThunder Drum

Eagle's Tower was the hardest for me. You have to knock down the pillars with the big iron ball. I was stuck on it from a gas station all the way to the hotel.

Bow-Wow!!

Bow-Wow is a Chain Chomp. He lives in Mabe Village on a chain in front of Madam MeowMeow's house, and she loves him like he's a puppy. He is a big black ball with teeth, so he's not a puppy.

After the first dungeon some Moblins kidnap him and Madam MeowMeow is SO sad. You have to go save him. Then you get to take him for a walk on his chain! He follows you everywhere and eats the enemies.

The best part: there are flowers in the swamp in front of the second dungeon that block the way, and your sword won't cut them. Bow-Wow eats them! That's how you get into Bottle Grotto. When you bring him home you'll miss him. I did.

The Trading Game

This is a side quest. You trade one thing for another thing with somebody who wants it, and they give you something else, and you trade that. There are 14 things. You HAVE to finish it, because the last thing is the Magnifying Lens, and without it you can't read the tiny book in the library, and you need that book at the very end of the game. Trust me.

Here it is in order:

*Yoshi Doll. Win it at the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. That's the crane game. It costs 10 rupees a try. It took me five tries. Give it to the mom in the village who wants one really bad.
*Ribbon. The mom gives you this. Give it to CiaoCiao, a little Chain Chomp in Mabe Village. She looks so cute with it.
*Dog Food. Take it to the alligator who lives in the house on the beach. He loves canned food.
*Bananas. The alligator gives you bananas. Give them to Kiki the monkey by Kanalet Castle. All his monkey friends come and build you a bridge!
*Stick. The monkeys leave a stick behind. Give it to Tarin. He pokes a beehive with it, which is a BAD idea. Poor Tarin.
*Honeycomb. That's what falls out of the beehive. Give it to the bear who is the chef in Animal Village.
*Pineapple. The bear gives you this. Give it to Papahl. He's lost up in the mountains and he's really hungry.
*Hibiscus. A pretty flower. Give it to Christine the goat in Animal Village.
*Letter. Christine wants you to deliver it to Mr. Write. He is her pen pal and he lives all by himself.
*Broom. Mr. Write gives you a broom. Give it to the grandma in Mabe Village who sweeps all day.
*Fishing Hook. Give it to the fisherman under the bridge in Martha's Bay. He fishes up...
*Necklace. ...a necklace! It belongs to the mermaid in the bay. Give it back to her. You have to swim out to her.
*Scale. The mermaid gives you one of her scales. There's a mermaid statue in the bay with a scale missing. Put it there.
*Magnifying Lens!!! The statue moves and there it is. DONE. Now go read the tiny book in the library.

Some of the trades only work after you've gotten far enough in the game, so if somebody won't take your thing, go do the next dungeon and come back.

DON'T STEAL FROM THE SHOP!!!
I mean it.

There is a shop in Mabe Village. If you pick something up and run around the shopkeeper while he isn't looking, you can walk out the door without paying. Everybody at school knows this. Everybody at school does it to get the bow early.

DON'T.

Here is what happens. For the REST OF THE GAME, every single person who says your name calls you THIEF. Marin calls you THIEF. It says THIEF on your file. It never goes away, not even after you beat the game.

And if you ever go back in the shop, the shopkeeper is waiting for you, and it is NOT good. I'm not going to say what happens. Just don't go back in there.

My cousin Alexandria is 13 and she stole the bow and she says it's funny. It's not funny. Her file says THIEF. Mine says COLLEEN. Save up your rupees. You can do it.

My Tips
*Talk to everybody twice. Sometimes they say something new.
*Look for the secret seashells. If you find enough, you get something good at the Seashell Mansion.
*Get the Pegasus Boots and the Roc's Feather and use them together to jump really far.
*Save a lot. The batteries run out in the car. Ask me how I know.
*Play the ending with nobody around. I'm not telling you anything about it. I just cried a little, that's all. Don't tell my brother Spencer.
