THE HATS!!! all 31 of them, in the order I got them << back to the Hat Rack |
| I didn't plan on having a hat collection. It just happened. Every time somebody didn't know what to say to me, they bought me a hat. (This is a GREAT thing to do, by the way, if you know somebody with alopecia. Unless it's ugly. Then just say hi.) No pictures yet, sorry, my aunt is going to take some with her camera at Thanksgiving and get them scanned. For now you have to imagine. The lucky hat is marked with ♥LUCKY♥. |
| # | HAT | FROM | NOTES |
Black velvet beret | Aunt Janet | My first hat ever. Survived the lunch line.
Pink paisley bandana | Wal-Mart, $1.97 | First day of 8th grade. Maria has the same one.
Red knit beanie with a pom-pom | Grandma knit it | She knit it in two days. Warmest hat I own.
Denim baseball cap with rhinestones | Kat made it | She glued on every rhinestone. Three have fallen off. I keep them in a film can.
Navy newsboy cap | Thrift store | Makes me look like I sell papers on a corner in 1920.
Orange hunting cap with earflaps | Dad's (borrowed forever) | Snow days only. Dad wants it back. Dad can't have it back.
Lavender fleece cap | Mom | For sleeping. Your head gets COLD with no hair, nobody tells you that.
Black cloche with a silk rose | Great-Grandma's closet | Really old. Grandma says her mother wore it to church. Too fancy for school.
White sailor hat | My cousin in the Navy | A real one! He mailed it from Virginia.
Tie-dye bandana | Made it at church camp | My hands were purple for a week.
Straw cowboy hat | The state fair | YEEHAW. Kristine has the brown one.
Purple fleece jester hat with bells | Maria, for my birthday | Not allowed in band. Learned that the hard way.
Black baseball cap, plain | Sporting goods store | Gym hat. Smells like gym. Lives in my locker.
Leopard bucket hat | The accessory store at the mall | Matches this web page. First day of 9th grade!
Pink fuzzy bucket hat | Same store, same day | I couldn't choose so Mom said get both. Best mom.
Green bucket hat | A garage sale, 25 cents | ♥LUCKY♥ Got an A on the algebra final in it, we won the volleyball tournament in it, AND it's the one I had on when Troy said sorry. Do not touch.
Silk scarf, blue with gold anchors | Aunt Janet again | She showed me how to tie it like a movie star. I look more like a pirate.
Red bandana | Hardware store | Pirate Day costume. Arrr.
White knit cap with snowflakes | Christmas, from Grandpa | He picked it out himself. He told everybody that twice.
Beanie Baby baseball cap | Kristine | It's a joke because I don't collect them. I wear it anyway.
Black satin turban | A lady at church | She wore it when she had chemo. She gave it to me and said it was a lucky hat but I think #16 would be jealous.
Gold sequin headband | Spring dance | Okay it's not exactly a hat. It COUNTS.
Yellow rain hat | Mom's old one | I look like a fisherman. Kat calls me Captain.
Gray wool fedora | Antique store | Very detective. I wear it to read mysteries.
Pink baseball cap that says SPOILED | Won it at the county fair | Ring toss. 11 tries. Totally worth it.
Cotton sun hat with a wide brim | My dermatologist's office | After the sunburn. See "LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES."
Black bandana with white skulls | Bought it myself | Mom hates it. That's half the point.
Volleyball team visor | The team, signed by everybody | Visors don't cover your head, so I wear it over #13. Double hat.
Crocheted rainbow beret | Amanda (from my guestbook!) | She MAILED it to me. A girl I never met. I cried.
Glow-in-the-dark star beanie | Science museum gift shop | For sleepovers. Turn off the lights and I am a planetarium.
Black-and-white houndstooth flat cap | Dad, "just because" | NEW!!! He came home from a business trip with it last week. Dads are weird and great.
|
Hat stats! ♥ Bandanas: 4. Baseball caps: 4. Bucket hats: 3. Knit and fleece: 5. Other: 15 (I counted the headband and the visor, deal with it) ♥ Most-worn: #16, obviously, then #14 ♥ Least-worn: #8, because I'm scared of wrecking it ♥ Where they live: on the back of my door, on a coat rack my dad put up, and on a row of hooks over my bed. Hence: the Hat Rack. ♥ Hat I want next: a real black top hat. For no reason. |
