President Howard Brinkerhoff called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Present: Directors Brinkerhoff, Nakashima, Heinemann, Esterhaus and Voorhees (quorum present). Residents present: 9, plus one visitor from the Wren Hollow association, who came to see how we handle the geese. Minutes. The August minutes were approved as distributed (Nakashima/Voorhees, unanimous). Treasurer's report (Heinemann). Operating account balance as of August 31: $9,418.62. Reserve account: $22,650.00. 1999 dues have been received from 139 of 142 households. Second notices went to the remaining three in July; one has since paid in part. The Treasurer will send a final letter as provided in the covenants. August expenses: common area mowing, $610.00; entrance electricity, $38.17; pond aerator repair, $164.50; newsletter printing and postage, $97.30. Report accepted. Architectural Committee (Voorhees). Four requests received in August:
Mr. Voorhees also reminded the Board that under the federal rule on small satellite dishes, the Association may ask, but not require, a less visible location. Grounds. Director Nakashima reported that the fall mums at the entrance were planted on September 4 by volunteers (thank you to the Roubals, the Ybanezes and the Kaufman grandchildren). The mowing contract with Greenway Lawn Service expires in November. Greenway has offered to renew for 2000 at $640.00 per month during the season, an increase of $30.00. Motion to renew (Nakashima/Heinemann) carried 4-0, with Mr. Brinkerhoff abstaining because his nephew works for Greenway. Pond. The aerator was repaired in August and is running. The goose count is 41. After discussion of several options, some more practical than others, the Board agreed to put up two additional "Please Do Not Feed the Geese" signs and to ask the newsletter to repeat the reminder. Neighborhood Watch (Esterhaus). Three vehicle break-ins on Kestrel Court the night of September 8-9; all three vehicles were unlocked. A police report was filed by each owner. The community officer who spoke at the May meeting has offered to come back for the annual meeting in January. Gene Roubal has volunteered as block captain for Falcon Circle, replacing the Lindgrens, who moved to Omaha. The Board thanked Mr. Roubal. National Night Out report: approximately 210 attended; the Association's cost was $118.40 for paper goods and ice. Old business: traffic on the loop. Following last spring's petition for speed humps, the city traffic engineer's office replied in writing that Prairie Hawk Drive does not meet the traffic volume needed for them. Residents present expressed disappointment. The Board will purchase six "Please Slow Down" yard signs for block captains to rotate among homes with young children, cost not to exceed $150.00 (Esterhaus/Nakashima, unanimous). New business.
Resident comments. A resident on Bobwhite Way asked that the Board remind residents that basketball hoops may not be placed in the street. So noted. A resident on Meadowlark Lane thanked the Board for the new playground mulch. Adjournment. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:41 p.m. (Heinemann/Voorhees). Next meeting: Monday, October 11, 1999, 7:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Posted Saturday, September 18, 1999 Prairie Hawk Estates main page |
