¡Bienvenidos! Me llamo Anita Diaz, tengo 22 años y soy

Welcome! My name is Anita Diaz, I'm 22 and I'm Puerto Rican. I was
born and raised in San Juan, and when I was a little girl the walls of my
room were covered with Menudo posters. My favorite, from day one, was Ricky.
When I was fifteen my mom and I moved to Orlando, and I'm finishing college
here now. This year, all of a sudden, the whole United States knows who Ricky
Martin is. He's on English radio, he's in all the magazines, my classmates
sing his songs. And I think: we've known since 1984. Welcome to the party!
I made this page in both languages because that's how I live, and because
that's how he sings.

Mi mamá me llevó

Vuelve wins the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance. And that same
night he sings "The Cup of Life" at the ceremony, with drums and
dancers, and the whole theater stands up. I was in our living room with my mom
and my cousin Valerie, screaming like crazy people. We called my grandmother in
San Juan and she was screaming too. That was the night America discovered him.

| Mayo de 1999 • El disco en inglés |
|
y yo no quería escaparme.

Number one! I hear it at the supermarket, in the car, at the drugstore. This
