PARKING LOT WEATHER dayton, ohio. four people, one garage, too many amps. |
|
MAY 3, 1998 -- the news Hey everybody. Here's the thing none of us wanted to type, so I'm typing it. Parking Lot Weather is done. Cal finally got the job in Austin he's been chasing for a year, and he leaves June 1st. Without Cal we're three people with no singer and no songs. We talked about it for a month and this is right. There's no fight. Nobody threw anything. Mo is going to keep playing, and Joey says he's done with drums forever, which I will believe when I see it. The last show was Saturday, April 25 at the Lamplighter. If you were there, you know. Thank you for singing Slow Leak louder than Cal did. The May and June shows are cancelled. Sorry, Rollerdrome. Sorry, Hanley's. We have about 40 Slow Leak tapes left. E-mail me and I'll tell you where to send $4, and I'll mail you one until they're gone. Thanks for three years. Really. -- Eli |
Sat 5/9 Dustin K.'s graduation party (private, ask Joey) CANCELLED
We started in January 1996 in Joey's parents' garage in Kettering, because Cal had songs, Mo had an amp, I had a bass I bought at a pawn shop on Wayne Avenue, and Joey had the garage. The name comes from where we always end up after a show: out by the cars, talking, nobody wanting to go home yet. It's the best weather there is. We sound like: four people who listened to a lot of R.E.M. and the Replacements in high school and turned it up. Loud guitars, songs you can sing along to by the second chorus.
SLOW LEAK (1997), five songs on cassette, recorded in the garage on a four-track over six cold weekends. Slow Leak / Parking Lot Weather / Fourth of July in February / Ninth Street Bridge / Dial Tone. $4 postpaid. E-mail me to get one. GARAGE, SPRING '96, three songs we recorded the first month, before we knew how. Sold out (all 25 of them). If you have one, you are a true fan, and I'm sorry.
