CASE FILE 2 · KNOWN HOSTILES AND AVAILABLE WEAPONS
Mild spoilers: this file tells you what kinds of things you'll run into, but not when or why.
> ZOMBIES
Slow, stupid, and there are a lot of them. They grab you and bite, and if two grab you at once you're in trouble. Waggle the controller to shake them off. Some of them crawl along the floor with no legs, which is worse, because you forget to look down. Handgun is fine. Don't waste the shotgun on one zombie unless it's in your way.
> DOGS
Fast, and they come in packs. You can't outrun them, so stand still, aim, and shoot. The shotgun is great here. Mostly outside or near windows.
> CROWS
Not dangerous one at a time, just really annoying. If a hallway is full of them, it's usually faster to run through than to fight.
> LICKERS
The first time you see one it's just a shape going past a window, and you'll remember it forever. They have no skin, a huge brain on the outside, and a tongue that hits from across the room. They crawl on the walls and ceilings. They take a lot of handgun bullets and they hit HARD. This is what your shotgun is for. Knock them down and keep shooting.
> SPIDERS
Huge. Down in the sewers. They poison you, so have a blue herb ready.
> THE ALLIGATOR
Yes, there's a giant alligator in the sewer, just like the urban legend. Don't try to shoot it to death. When it chases you down the tunnel, there's a gas tank you can knock loose. Let it bite the tank, and then shoot the tank. Easiest boss in the game once you know.
> PLANTS
Deep underground there are walking plants that spit poison. Fire works best: Claire's flame rounds, or Leon's flamethrower if you have it.
> THE BIG ONES
There's a monster you'll fight more than once, and it gets bigger and worse every time. When you see a giant eye on it, that's where to aim. Bring your best weapon and full health every time.
And in the B scenario, there's a very large man in a long coat who does not stop following you. You can knock him down but you can't keep him down. Don't try to fight him every time he shows up. Leave the room. Most of the time he won't be right behind you. Most of the time.
WEAPONS
LEON
Handgun
Shotgun
Magnum
Sub-machine gun
Flamethrower
Leon can find parts that upgrade his handgun, shotgun and magnum. Look for them. The upgraded shotgun is the best gun in his half of the game.
|
CLAIRE
Handgun
Bowgun
Grenade launcher
Spark shot
Sub-machine gun
The grenade launcher takes three kinds of rounds: regular explosive, acid and flame. Acid for the big monsters, flame for plants.
|
The bowgun fires a spread of bolts and is better than it looks up close. The spark shot is great against the big monster. The sub-machine gun eats bullets fast and is only there in one of the two scenarios, depending on who picks it up first.
