[back to the library] [newbie help] <120hp 86m 110mv> help rules RULES 1. One character at a time. You may have as many characters as you like, but only one of them may be logged in at once. No exceptions, not even "just to hold the door." We can tell. 2. You must be at the keyboard. Triggers and aliases in your client are fine while you're sitting there. Leaving a script running to fight for you while you're asleep or at work is not. 3. Be decent. No harassing other players, on channels or in tells. No slurs. Keep gossip to something you'd say in a crowded restaurant. If someone asks you to stop sending them tells, stop. 4. Bugs are for reporting, not using. If you find something broken, type bug and describe it. If you find a way to duplicate items or gold, report it and don't use it. People who report bugs get thanked. People who use them get deleted. 5. Names. No rude names, no names made of random letters, and no famous characters. We have already turned away four Gandalfs, two Drizzts and an alarming number of people who wanted to be named after breakfast cereals. 6. Don't ask Immortals for things. We don't hand out equipment, gold, levels or restores. Asking once is fine, you didn't know. Asking twice gets you a very polite note from me. 7. The Implementor's decision is final. Varek listens and he's fair. If you think a decision was wrong, e-mail him, calmly, and he'll look at it again. What happens if you break the rules: first a warning, usually from me. Then, for serious or repeated problems, you may be frozen (you can log in, but you can't do anything) or denied (you can't log in at all). We've only had to deny six characters in four years, and I remember every one. <120hp 86m 110mv> help pk PK (player killing) Clan members, please remember that the person you just killed is somebody's evening. Don't loot everything, don't camp their corpse, and don't gloat on gossip. Gloat in clan talk like a civilized person. <120hp 86m 110mv> help immortal IMMORTAL ("How do I become a wiz?") We don't take applications. We notice people. Every one of our Immortals was a player first, for a long time, who helped newbies without being asked, reported bugs instead of using them, and was the kind of person you were glad to see on the who list. Then one day Varek sent them a tell. Being an Immortal is mostly work. I spend more time writing room descriptions and answering questions than I ever spent fighting things. I also don't get to play my old character anymore, and I miss her. If that still sounds good to you, the best thing you can do is play, be kind, and learn to write a good room. Everything else follows. [back to the library] [newbie help] |
