It's 11:40 p.m. Your paper is due at 8. The lab printer is jammed. We're open.

Campus Corner Copy & Print has been keeping students, professors and the occasional frantic graduate student in copies since 1994. We're a block from campus, right across the street from the main library, next door to the sandwich place. We are not a chain. We are Sunil and Meera, two full-time employees, and a rotating crew of student workers who know exactly what it's like to need 40 pages by morning, because they were you last semester. Bring your disk, your ID and your deadline.

10% student discount on everything with a current student ID. Faculty and staff get it too. Just ask.

Hours
During the semester Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to midnight
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Sunday noon to midnight
Finals week (Dec. 13-17 this fall) 24 hours, from 7 a.m. Sunday the 12th straight through to midnight Friday the 17th. Same deal in May.
Semester break 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays; closed Sundays. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. (We'll be open Dec. 31 during the day. We are not worried about Y2K. The copiers don't know what year it is and neither do half our customers at 2 a.m.)

What We Do
  • Copies. Six self-serve copiers along the wall, all with auto-feeders, double-siding and stapling. Two big full-serve machines behind the counter for anything over about 50 pages, and for the jobs where you'd rather we did it. Bring a roll of quarters or buy a copy card at the counter.
  • Course packets. See For Professors below. Students: packets are sold at the counter, shelved by course number, cash or check. Packets for the fall semester are on the shelf now.
  • Resumes. Meera will typeset your resume with you at the counter in about half an hour, on a Mac, in a clean layout that doesn't look like everyone else's. You get one laser-printed original on heavy paper and a disk so you can update it yourself later. Bring a draft, even a messy one. We've done hundreds and we know what the career center likes.
  • Binding. Theses, dissertations, reports, portfolios. Thermal tape for a clean spine, comb or coil so it lies flat, and clear front covers with black backs. While you wait, unless there are eight people ahead of you, which during finals there will be.
  • Fax. Send or receive, $1 a page. If you're expecting a fax, tell us your name and we'll hold it at the counter. Ask at the counter for our fax number.
  • Printing from disk. Bring your 3½-inch floppy or Zip disk. We read Mac and PC disks, Word, WordPerfect, PageMaker, Excel, and most everything else. Laser 10¢ a page, color 50¢.
  • Transparencies, lamination, cutting, folding, and hole-punching. The little stuff nobody else wants to do.
  • Flyers and posters for your club, your band, your lost cat. 11 x 17 on bright paper is 10¢ and it gets noticed.

Floppy disk Computers by the Hour: $6

Five rental computers in the back room, $6 per hour, in 15-minute increments after the first hour, and yes, the student discount applies.

  • Three Macintoshes: two of the new iMacs (the blue ones) and a Power Mac G3 with a big monitor for design work. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PageMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a flatbed scanner on the G3.
  • Two PCs: Pentium II machines with Windows 98, Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, and Netscape. A Zip drive on each.

All five are on the laser printer (10¢ a page) and the color inkjet (50¢). Save your work to your own disk; the machines get cleaned off every night. We'll help you with the scanner or with getting a file from one kind of disk to the other, but we can't write your paper. People do ask.

Reserve a machine ahead during finals week; otherwise it's first come, first served.

For Professors: Course Packets

Bring us your readings, in any condition (we have straightened out a lot of crooked photocopies), and we'll produce a clean, bound course packet, sell it to your students at the counter at cost plus a small markup, and handle the headaches. Specifically:

  • We handle the copyright permission requests for you. Get us your materials at least four weeks before the semester starts; permissions take time and some publishers are slow. Packets with only your own materials or public-domain readings can turn around in a week.
  • Each packet gets a table of contents, page numbers and a cover with the course number and your name.
  • We print to order, so there's no leftover box in your office in May.
  • Students pay at our counter; you never handle money.

Spring 2000 packet materials are due to us by Monday, December 6 to be on the shelf for the first day of classes in January. Sunil handles all packet orders; e-mail him or stop in.

Steaming coffee cup Finals Week: 24 hours, and the coffee pot is on

Every finals week since 1995 we've stayed open around the clock, and every finals week the coffee pot by the door is free, all night, no purchase required. (It's the big 40-cup kind. Meera makes it strong. There's a box of tea bags and sometimes, if the sandwich place next door has had a good day, day-old muffins.) It's a small thing, and we do it because the library closes at 2 and somebody has to be awake with you.

Fall finals week is December 13-17. We'll have all six copiers running, extra student workers on the counter from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the rental computers reserved in one-hour blocks. If you know you'll need a machine at 3 a.m. on the 15th, tell us on the 13th.

About Us

We're Sunil and Meera K. We opened Campus Corner in the fall of 1994 with two used copiers, a fax machine and a loan from Meera's parents, in what used to be a shoe repair shop. (The shoe guy's sign is still in the back.) Sunil ran the copy center at a big company before that and got tired of the commute; Meera did layout for a weekly newspaper and still does the resumes and anything that needs to look good. We live ten minutes away, our kids go to the elementary school, and one of them has been known to be doing homework at the counter on a school night.

We're a small business and we know it, so we try to do the things a small business can do: remember your name, remember your course number, tell you the truth about whether the job can be done by 8 a.m. (usually yes), and not charge you for the copy that came out blank. Thank you for eleven semesters. Come see us. The coffee's on.

How to reach us: Phone (555) 555-0163 during business hours. E-mail [email protected] for quotes, packet orders, or to reserve a computer; we check it several times a day. Or just walk across the street from the library.
