ME My name is Shannon. Yes I'm a boy. Yes it's a boy's name too. My grandpa's name was Shannon and he was in the Navy, so think about that before you say anything. I'm 11 and I live in Washington State, the one by Canada, not the one with the President. I got The Invasion from the book order in third grade because the cover had a kid turning into a lizard and I thought it would be gross. It WAS gross. It was also the best book I ever read. Since then I have read 24 Animorphs books (I'm on #22 now, plus I read some of the special ones out of order). I made this page so other people would read them too. My big sister Rebecca says Animorphs is for babies. I caught her reading #5 in the car on the way to my grandma's. She says she was "checking it for me." Sure, Rebecca. |

THE BOOKS Animorphs is by K.A. Applegate. The first one came out in June 1996 and they've come out about one a month ever since, which is good, because I read them in like two days and then I have to WAIT. The newest one is #33, The Illusion, and it came out this month, and it's a Tobias book. I haven't gotten to it yet. NO SPOILERS. I mean it. Every book is told by one of the six kids, and it switches every time, so you get to be inside everybody's head. On the cover a kid turns into an animal in steps, and in the corner of the pages there's a flip-book, so if you flip fast with your thumb you can watch them morph. I flip it every time before I start reading. It's a rule. There are special books too: Megamorphs, where all six of them tell the story, and The Andalite Chronicles and The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, which are about the aliens from before the regular books. The Andalite Chronicles is about Elfangor and I think it's the best one of all, maybe. |
| WHO | WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW |
| JAKE | The leader, even though he doesn't want to be. His big brother Tom has a Yeerk in his head, and that's why Jake fights so hard. His battle morph is a tiger. |
| RACHEL | Jake's cousin. She does gymnastics and likes the mall and isn't scared of ANYTHING. She morphs a grizzly bear and an elephant. If I was in a fight I'd want Rachel. |
| TOBIAS | He stayed in his red-tailed hawk morph too long in the first book and now he's a hawk for good. He lives in a meadow and eats mice. He's the saddest one and also my favorite, sometimes. |
| CASSIE | Her mom and dad are animal doctors and she helps take care of hurt wild animals in the barn on their farm, so they always have animals to get DNA from. She's the best at morphing and her main morph is a wolf. She also worries about whether things are RIGHT, which is important. |
| MARCO | Jake's best friend and the funniest one. He didn't want to fight at first. He morphs a gorilla. He makes fun of everybody, which is why the books are funny even when they're scary. |
| AX | His real name is Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill and he's an Andalite! He's Elfangor's little brother. When he morphs into a human he goes crazy over the taste of food, especially cinnamon buns, and he says words like they're new candy. Best part of every book he's in. |

YEERKS & ANDALITES Yeerks are gray slugs. Seriously, slugs. They crawl in your ear and wrap around your brain and then they're in control and you can't do anything about it. A person with a Yeerk in their head is called a Controller. Every three days a Yeerk has to go back to the Yeerk pool, which is hidden underground, to soak up Kandrona rays, or it starves. They're taking over Earth secretly, one person at a time, and some of them are people you'd never guess, like your teacher or a policeman. The Yeerks have a club called The Sharing that seems like a nice family club. It is NOT. Do not join The Sharing. Visser Three is the worst Yeerk. He's the only Yeerk with an Andalite body, so he can morph, and he morphs into monsters from all over the galaxy. Andalites are the good aliens. They look kind of like blue deer with an extra set of arms, two extra eyes on stalks on top of their heads, and a tail with a blade on the end that's faster than you can see. They don't have mouths. They eat by running on grass with their hooves. They talk in your head with thought-speak. The Andalites invented the morphing technology, and an Andalite prince named Elfangor gave it to the six kids in the very first book, in a construction site at night, right before Visser Three got him. Other ones: Hork-Bajir (big guys covered in blades who are actually really nice), Taxxons (giant centipedes who are always hungry, GROSS), and the Chee (androids that look kind of like dogs underneath, who pretend to be regular people and can't hurt anybody). |

MORPHING RULES 1. To get an animal's DNA you have to touch it and concentrate. This is called acquiring. The animal goes all calm and sleepy while you do it. 2. THE TWO-HOUR RULE. You can stay in a morph for two hours. If you stay longer than two hours, you're stuck that way FOREVER. That's what happened to Tobias. Everybody always checks the time. I made a rule for myself that if I ever get the morphing power I'm wearing two watches. 3. You can't morph clothes. Only really tight stuff comes with you, like bike shorts, so they wear tight outfits under their clothes. No shoes. They're always ending up barefoot somewhere and it's funny every time. 4. When you morph, you get the animal's instincts too, and sometimes the instincts are stronger than you. That's why some morphs are really dangerous even if the animal is little. (See my no-bugs rule.) 5. When you morph back you go back to being yourself, and morphing back heals you, so if you get hurt you can morph and come back fixed. That's how they survive the battles. |

THE TV SHOW There's an Animorphs show on Nickelodeon. It started last September. I watch it, but the books are WAY better and here's why: > Rachel turns into a lion instead of a grizzly bear or an elephant. A LION. > Tobias is a different kind of hawk. My grandpa watches birds and he noticed before I did. > Marco gets the wolf morph, and that's Cassie's! > In the books you're inside their heads and you know what it FEELS like to morph, like your bones are squishing and your skin is going all feathery. On TV they just kind of melt. My friend Victor likes the show better because he doesn't like reading. I told him that's not a reason, that's a problem. |

| COOL PAGE ALERT: If you like books with kids who find out about a secret world, my mom says I have to read Harry Potter next. Platform 9 3/4 is Theo's Harry Potter page. He's 11 too and he lives in Michigan and he's still waiting for his letter from Hogwarts. It has a Sorting Hat quiz. I got Gryffindor. (Theo, if Andalites went to Hogwarts they'd be in Ravenclaw.) |
