Every animal in the GeoCities.us clip art, in its own cage, with paws out of five!

Hi!!! I'm Heather and I'm 10 and I LOVE animals. When I grow up I'm going to be a zookeeper or a vet or maybe both. I have a real goldfish named Bubbles, and that's it for real pets right now (see the part about Kristy at the bottom).

So I made my own zoo! I looked at every single picture on the Free Clip Art page, and on a LOT of other people's pages, and I found every animal I could. They all live here now. Each one has its own cage and its own sign, and I gave them paws out of five. Five paws is the best. Zero paws is a rock.

Zoo Rules:
1. Don't tap the glass. (They're GIFs and they can't hear you. But still.)
2. Don't feed the animals.

~ CAT HOUSE ~

Name: The Tabby Cat
Size: 36 by 36
Does it move? YES! Her tail swishes back and forth and every once in a while she blinks. I watched her for about five minutes to make sure.
Good for: cat pages, or the top of any page to say hi.

She's orange with darker orange stripes and green eyes and a pink nose and a white tummy. She sits up very straight like she's waiting for her dinner. My grandma's cat Marmalade looks EXACTLY like this except fatter. She's on the Free Clip Art page and it says "Tabby cat (animated)" under her, so she's official.

Paws: 5 out of 5!!! She's the queen of the zoo.

~ DOG RUN ~

Name: The Brown Dog
Size: 32 by 32
Does it move? No.
Good for: dog pages.

He's brown and he's standing sideways so you can see one ear and one eye and his legs. He is kind of square. My mom says he looks like a bear. I say he looks like a dog who is a LITTLE bit like a bear. The people who made The Ferret Page use him at the top of their page because there isn't a ferret in the clip art yet, and they say so right under him, which I think is very honest.

Paws: 3 out of 5. He needs a tail that wags.

~ BIRD HOUSE ~

Name: The Cardinal
Size: 32 by 32
Does it move? No.
Good for: bird pages, winter pages, Christmas pages.

He's bright red with a black mask around his face like a robber, and an orange beak, and he's sitting on a brown branch. Boy cardinals are red and girl cardinals are brownish with just a little red, so this one is a boy. He's also on the Free Clip Art page.

Paws: 4 out of 5. Birds don't have paws. Rules are rules.

~ AQUARIUM ~

Name: The Goldfish
Size: 32 by 32
Does it move? No.
Good for: fish pages and fishing pages.

He's orange and he faces left. He doesn't swim. A fish that doesn't swim is basically a cracker. But he is a very nice orange, and if you put him on light blue like I did in his cage, it looks like he's in water. I tried it on white first and he just looked lost.

Paws: 3 out of 5. (My real goldfish Bubbles gets 5. She swims.)

~ HAMSTER HUT ~

These two are my FAVORITES in the whole zoo. They are not on the Free Clip Art page. I found them on Kelsey's Hamster Dance Party, which has rows and rows of them dancing. Kelsey drew them herself in Paint Shop Pro, and her page says you can take them for your page if you e-mail her and put a link back. So I e-mailed her!!! And that up there is my link back. Thank you Kelsey!!!

Name: Goldie Shimmy (that's what Kelsey named her)
Size: 40 by 40
Does it move? SHE DANCES. She shimmies side to side with her paws out and blinks.
Good for: everything.

She's orange and white and round with pink ears and pink feet. She looks so happy. I don't think anybody could be sad looking at her.

Paws: 5 out of 5!!!

Name: Spinner
Size: 40 by 40
Does it move? YES. He turns all the way around, front, side, back, side, and then he puts both paws up like TA-DA!
Good for: also everything.

He's gray and white, and when he's turned around all you see is his round gray back. Kelsey says he's a show-off and she is right.

Paws: 5 out of 5!!!

~ HORSE BARN ~

Name: The Chess Knight
Size: 32 by 32
Does it move? Only in an L shape. (That's a chess joke. My dad taught me.)
Good for: chess pages.

It's a horse but only the head. It's black and it's for playing chess. It's not really an animal, it's a chess piece, but it's the only horse in the whole clip art so it gets the barn.

Paws: 2 out of 5. Horses have hooves anyway.

~ HOW TO SAVE A PICTURE ~

1. Put your mouse on the animal and click the RIGHT mouse button. (On a Mac you hold the mouse button down on it until a menu comes up.)

2. Pick Save Image As (in Netscape) or Save Picture As (in Internet Explorer). Save it on your desktop so you can find it again.

3. Go to the File Manager and upload it to your page.

4. Put it on your page like this. My mom helped me with this part.

Always put the width and height! My mom says that way the words on your page show up first and the pictures fill in after. And the alt is what people see if the picture doesn't come. Don't forget, if you take a hamster you have to e-mail Kelsey and link back. That's HER rule.

~ ANIMALS I WISH SOMEBODY WOULD DRAW ~

A horse. A WHOLE one, with legs and a tail and a mane. Please please please.

A turtle. Kristy at the Pixel Pet Adoption Center says she's drawing a baby turtle! She says she's working on the legs and legs are hard. I can't wait.

A guinea pig. My cousin has two guinea pigs and they squeak really loud every time somebody opens the refrigerator. A guinea pig would be easy to draw because it's mostly just a potato with a face. (That's a compliment.)

A ferret, for The Ferret Page people, so the dog can go home.

~ WANT A PET THAT'S ALL YOURS? ~

Then go to Kristy's Pixel Pet Adoption Center! Kristy draws all her pets herself, one dot at a time, and they move. She has beagle puppies, tabby kittens, snow bunnies and dragon eggs, and the dragon eggs are going to hatch on Halloween!!! Go see the nursery.

You might wonder why Kristy's pets aren't in my zoo. It's because her rules say her pets are for people who adopt them. You have to give your pet a name and put it on your own page and visit it and stuff. That's not a zoo, that's a family. Zoo animals belong to everybody, but an adopted pet belongs to YOU.

Also my mom says one pet at a time, even pretend ones, and I already have Bubbles. I asked her if the zoo counts and she said zoo animals are not pets, they're zoo animals. So that's OK. When Bubbles is old I'm going to ask about a dragon.
