File Manager and FTP

The File Manager is where you keep the files that make up your home page: your HTML pages, your pictures and anything else you'd like to share. You'll find it in the Member Center.

Uploading with FTP

If you build your pages on your own computer, you can upload a whole site at once with an FTP program such as WS_FTP or CuteFTP. Use these settings:

Host name	`ftp.geocities.us`
User ID	your member name
Password	your member password
Transfer mode	ASCII for .html and .txt files, binary for pictures

Your first page should be named index.html. That's the page visitors see when they type your address.

	Files You Can Upload
HTML pages (.html, .htm), pictures (.gif, .jpg), text files (.txt), and sounds and music (.mid, .wav, .au). Each file can be up to 1 MB. Program files, such as .exe, can't be posted.
